I am an American painter
from
Boston now living in the Haute Vallee de l’Aude, the
foothills of the
French Pyrenees. Living in this region exposes the landscape painter to
a world that changes, meter by meter, and hour by hour,
sunnily
intimate one moment, wild and rough, almost brutal, the next. Always
magnificent, it challenges the painter by its very extravagant variety.
My current work in pastel and occasionally oil, attempts to capture
variously those small moments of changing light on a tree, a river, a
field and the broader vistas which encourage the viewer to move
emotionally into and beyond the picture plane into imagined
country. |
